MAJALENGKA – For most people, trash is worthless. It’s often left piled up or simply thrown away. However, one resident has a different approach. He has transformed trash into something valuable. Various products with economic value have been created, including paper blocks made from plastic waste and liquid fertilizer made from organic waste.
Maman, a young man from Sinargalih Village, Lemah Sugih District, Majalengka Regency, started with minimal capital and built a waste processing facility on a vacant lot far from residential areas. “With determination and minimal capital, I started processing waste,” he said on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
Maman added that the waste processing process is simple. He collects household waste from neighboring houses and separates non-organic waste. Organic waste is specifically processed to create fertilizer. “Non-organic waste is separated, and organic waste is specifically made into fertilizer,” he revealed.
Maman explained that plastic waste is placed in a special container and burned using used oil as fuel, replacing gasoline. “The burned plastic waste becomes solid and is then molded into paper blocks. It’s great for building materials,” he said.
Meanwhile, organic waste is processed specifically to create liquid and solid fertilizers that are now in demand by local farmers. The Head of Sinargalih Village, H. Suswana, expressed pride that one of his residents is so concerned about waste and provides real solutions to protect the environment. “This effort deserves appreciation and can serve as a model and example for other residents,” he said.
