New Innovation by Kuwu Kawunghilir: “Nyaah ka Indung jeung ka Bapak” Program

Majalengka – After successfully implementing initiatives that benefit the small community, Hj. Bunda Yosa Novita, the village head of Kawunghilir in Cigasong sub-district, Majalengka regency, West Java, has launched a new innovation. The program, called “Nyaah ka Indung jeung Nyaah ka Bapak,” provides nutritious meals for underprivileged mothers and fathers in her village.

The inspiration behind this program stems from her determination since running for village head four years ago to dedicate herself and her wealth to the community. This program is entirely funded by her personal funds, not from village funds or budgets. The program will continue as long as she serves as village head.

“This ‘Nyaah ka Indung jeung Nyaah ka Bapak’ program is funded by my personal money. I don’t want to use village funds because their allocation is clear. This program is purely from my personal funds,” said Bunda Hj. Yosa during the 80th Indonesian Independence Day celebration at the Kawunghilir village hall on August 17, 2025.

Bunda Yosa added that although she uses her personal funds, she invites the Village Consultative Body (BPD) to monitor and oversee the distribution. The goal is to ensure that the program is realized as promised to the public. “In my speech, I invited the BPD to monitor and ensure the distribution. If I’m busy and forget, they can remind me,” she said with a smile.

At 60 years old, Bunda Yosa is committed to dedicating herself more to helping others and showing love to the people of Kawunghilir village. “Alhamdulillah, I’m still blessed with good health and excess wealth, so it’s fitting that I share,” she said.

The program provides ready-to-eat meals that Bunda Yosa herself cooks and sends to the underprivileged mothers and fathers in Kawunghilir village. Currently, there are 20 registered recipients, and the criteria are those who are truly in need, such as having children who have migrated and are struggling economically. The data may increase as the program progresses.

Bunda Yosa also conducts research to ensure that the nutritious meals meet the recipients’ preferences. “So, the meals will be tailored to their tastes. If someone doesn’t like eggs, it will be replaced with another menu. InshaAllah, this program will continue as long as I’m village head,” she concluded.

Camat Cigasong, Oo Taufik, expressed his pride in Bunda Yosa’s dedication to serving the community using her personal funds. He noted that most village heads prioritize recouping their investment in the first year, but Bunda Yosa has chosen to spend her own money on her citizens. “Now in her fourth year of leadership, I hope she’ll have a long life and good health. She still has four years left in her term, and hopefully, she can serve two periods,” he said.

Camat Cigasong added that the West Java Governor praised Bunda Yosa as a special village head due to her policies and innovations that benefit the small community. “The governor praised her, saying there should be more leaders like Bunda Yosa,” he said. The main prize at the 80th Indonesian Independence Day celebration was a refrigerator. (Acil Erik)
