MAJALENGKA – Amidst a world plagued by trade wars and global uncertainty triggered by Donald Trump’s protectionist policies, Indonesia presents an oasis of tranquility from its spiritual traditions. One such example is the Akar Djati Sholawat Community. This morning, Monday (7/4), thousands of Akar Djati congregants gathered for a joint prayer titled “Call for Peace for the World” held at the Al Mizan Jatiwangi Islamic Boarding School, Majalengka. This event is a tangible manifestation of the spiritual community’s concern for the global situation, which is currently marked by conflict and humanitarian crises.
Led by young Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figure, KH. Maman Imanulhaq, Akar Djati is not just a sholawat community, but a cultural movement that promotes messages of love, social justice, and world peace. In every recitation of sholawat, there is a determination to continue the mission of rahmatan lil ‘alamin, cooling down a world heated by conflict and global economic greed.
“From this community, which is run with full moral values and wisdom, we voice our hopes and commitment to a more peaceful world. Religion should be a source of love, not a tool for hostility,” said KH. Maman Imanulhaq in front of thousands of congregants.
Kiai Maman also highlighted the importance of Indonesia’s role as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, serving as an example in maintaining harmony. “We want the world to see that Indonesian Islam, Cirebon Islam, is a friendly, solution-oriented, and merciful Islam for all,” he added.
The Deputy Secretary of the Syuro Council of the DPP PKB also called on all Akar Djati congregants to be more serious in building food security, strengthening social solidarity by helping each other, and fostering spiritual values in daily life. “We cannot just pray, but we must also build independence, strengthen brotherhood, and purify our intentions in every movement,” emphasized Kiai Maman.
Akar Djati, according to Kiai Maman, has grown into a spiritual-social movement with thousands of congregants spread across the 3 Cirebon, Sumedang, Subang, and Bandung regions. With the inclusive and loving spirit of Islam Nusantara, Akar Djati believes that Indonesia can be a voice for peace amidst the global geopolitical turmoil.
“Through culture, spirituality, social-economic resilience, and active involvement in the community, Akar Djati wants to voice that the world can be peaceful if we return to the roots of humanity and divinity,” he concluded.
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including the leader of the Al Mizan Islamic Boarding School, Nyai H. Upik Rofikoh, who is also an advisor to Akar Djati. Other attendees included KH. Acep T. Khozin, H. Sumari, H. Ramli, Kiai Said, Hj. Srimulyati, Kasmirah, and Hj. Ruskini. Also present were the Daily Chair of Akar Djati, Drs Hariri, Secretary Gus Mari Muhammad Hadiq, and Treasurer Hj. Eli.
Akar Djati, as a spiritual-cultural movement that combines Islamic values with local roots, has long promoted a spirit of dialogue, tolerance, and interfaith brotherhood. The event featured not only joint prayer but also local cultural performances and the recitation of peace poetry.
