Majalengka, – Public information openness is an essential part of our collective effort to build good and clean governance. To achieve optimal information openness, a strong commitment from all government elements is required. This must be supported by competent human resources, sufficient budget support, and the utilization of information and communication technology (ICT).
To support this, the Main Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) of Diskominfo Majalengka held a socialization related to public complaints about public information openness in Lengkong Wetan Village, Sindangwangi District, on Wednesday (04/23/2025).
The Head of the Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) of Majalengka Regency, H. Gatot Sulaeman, represented by the Head of the Information and Public Communication Division (IKP), Hj. Kusmiati, said that public information openness is one of the essential things in realizing good governance. The government is obliged to provide sufficient and easy access for the public to obtain the necessary information.
This is done so that the public can participate in policy-making and make informed decisions. “In implementing Law No. 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Openness, where effective and responsive information service is an essential element in improving the quality of public services, the Main PPID needs to socialize this to the village level,” said Kusmiati.
She also added that currently, development in the village is very dominant with significant budget support from the government, so information openness is crucial for the public to know. In this case, PPID has a strategic role as the frontline in managing, providing, and conveying public information to the public.
PPID is also responsible for ensuring that the information provided is in accordance with the laws and regulations, can be accessed easily, and encourages active community participation in the government process. “With the presence of PPID in the village community, it is expected to create transparency and accountability in every village development process,” said Kusmiati. **
