Accustomed to Practical Experience, Ar-Rahmat Vocational School Graduates are More Prepared to Work or Start their Own Beauty Care Business

MAJALENGKA – Students at Ar-Rahmat Vocational School in Weragati Village, Palasah District, Majalengka Regency, are considered more prepared to face new situations after graduating from the school. The reason is that teachers and students at Ar-Rahmat Vocational School apply a balanced learning method of theory and direct practice. Even for certain case studies, practice is more frequent with the goal of direct understanding and experience for students.

The Nursing Assistant department at Ar-Rahmat Vocational School is a health program that covers physical and mental health. Students learn about caregiver techniques, starting from newborns, caring for toddlers, adults, and the elderly, up to the stage of death.

One of the students, Anggun, said that in the Nursing Assistant department, she studied basic human anatomy and physiology, basic concepts of nursing, public health science, creative products, human growth and development, ethics, and nursing communication as a guide for excellent service. “We also study science and social sciences to provide excellent service to patients. We often practice hair and facial care for the boarding school environment,” she said during a facial care practice session in the Nursing Laboratory of SMK Ar-Rahmat on Friday, May 16, 2025.

In the same room, separated by a curtain, students were seen handling elderly patients, while others were bathing babies. The teacher of the Nursing Assistant department, Lia Herliawati, said that almost all students in the nursing department are female. They are directed to practice more after studying and receiving theory. “Direct practice for students makes them more understanding and gets direct experience. Making mistakes in the first and second practices is normal, but then they start to get used to it,” she revealed.

Meanwhile, the Head of Ar-Rahmat Vocational School, Yayat Ruhayadi, said that students at Ar-Rahmat Vocational School are more optimistic about entering society. For example, students in the Nursing Assistant department will be more capable of starting their own business or working in hospitals or clinics. “Because students in this department have been tested in both theory and practice. Some have even been trusted to open their own salon and recruit friends, which is a pride,” he said.
