Biopot from Sheep Manure Facilitates Transplanting

MAJALENGKA – macakata.com – To reduce plastic waste and make seedling transplantation easier, a university student has created pots made from sheep manure. “The material is purely from sheep feces. This biopot functions to fertilize plants without the need for pot replacement,” said Permana Fajar Proklamasi, when met at the Saung Panungtung Farm agricultural land in Cicurug Village, Majalengka District, on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Fajar explained that creating biopot or biorganic pots is part of his research that will benefit himself and will be documented in a written report. “Sheep manure is abundant here. We all know that sheep feces are a natural fertilizer for plants. I just formed it into a planting medium,” he revealed.

To make the biopot, Fajar said that fresh sheep manure needs to be left to sit for a month to ensure the smell dissipates. “Let it compost for a month to eliminate the smell. Then, shape it according to the pot size,” he said.

Fajar added that the manure used is taken from the bottom of the manure pile, then shaped and dried. “Dry it for a week. If the weather is hot, it can dry in three days,” he said.

Fajar’s research began at the end of 2024, and the concept was developed in March 2025. The biopot production process was done last week. As an eighth-semester student at the University of Majalengka, Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry department, Fajar said, “The goal is to make it easier to use, avoid plant stress when transplanting, and reduce plastic waste. The biopot can be directly planted into the soil without removing the plant,” he explained
