Majalengka – PT Shoetown Ligung Indonesia (SLI) in Majalengka Regency has started using solar energy to generate electricity for its industrial operations. This renewable energy is claimed to be environmentally friendly and preserves the ecosystem.
Majalengka Regent, Eman Suherman, officially inaugurated the innovation in utilizing solar energy as a source of electricity at PT. SLI. “In short, the electricity needs of this factory are partially met by PLN (State Electricity Company), but also assisted by solar energy,” he said on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
For context, out of a total quota of 17,000 MWp allocated for the Shoetown factory area, PLN recommended 2,500 MWp for the use of solar energy. “PLN only recommended 2,500 MWp for using solar energy. As we saw today, it’s truly remarkable, and solar cells are indeed a green energy source,” said the regent.
The use of solar energy is considered highly beneficial as it does not require fuel, providing a sense of comfort and tranquility in the company’s operations. “By using solar energy, it means we don’t use fuel. This will undoubtedly have a positive impact on comfort,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of PT. SLI, Jim Chang, stated that with the utilization of solar energy, PT. SLI claims to be the only company, particularly in Majalengka Regency, that is a pioneer in using environmentally friendly energy.
