Classroom Walls at MAN 2 Majalengka Collapse, Online Learning Implemented for 2 Days

MAJALENGKA — At least three classrooms at MAN 2 Majalengka in Rajagaluh District were damaged by flooding, forcing students to switch to online learning for two days on February 10 and 11, 2025.

An on-site inspection revealed that the walls of the high school-level classrooms collapsed after the school’s perimeter fence gave way under floodwater pressure, crashing into the classroom structures.

The floodwaters began encroaching into the school area around 6:30 PM local time on Sunday, February 9, 2025, and receded by approximately 11:45 PM the same day.

Efrans Galuh, a member of the Majalengka Regional Legislative Council (DPRD), noted in his records that over the past month, 38 classrooms have been reviewed during direct inspections by Commission IV of the DPRD, which has been visiting schools across Majalengka Regency.

“Starting this Wednesday, students will use laboratory rooms and other available spaces for learning activities,” he said during a visit to the school on Monday (Feb 10).

Yayan Ristamanjaya, Principal of MAN 2 Rajagaluh, stated that initial steps are being taken to prepare alternative classrooms for offline learning, set to begin this Wednesday. Currently, all students are studying online.

“Today, we are cleaning up, and by Wednesday, offline learning can resume,” he explained.

On Monday afternoon, the newly elected Regent of Majalengka, Eman Suherman, also visited MAN 2 Majalengka. *(acil)
