MAJALENGKA – macakata.com – A member of the Majalengka Regency DPRD from the United Development Party (PPP) faction, Muh. Fajar Shiddiq, stated that the regional budget of Majalengka Regency reaches Rp3.3 trillion. For education, Rp1.2 trillion is allocated. The education budget of Rp1.2 trillion includes Rp500 billion for teacher honorariums, while Rp700 billion is for infrastructure and other supporting factors.
“However, the current reality has not been directly proportional to the quality of reliable human resources,” he said on the sidelines of a seminar on education at STAI PUI Majalengka on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Fajar added that the education budget has not been evenly distributed to every educational unit. The allocation of the education budget has mostly been absorbed by government institutions, while private educational institutions have been largely neglected.
“The regulations are also unclear. Therefore, the solution requires sitting together, formulating educational issues so that there is synergy between the government and private educational institutions, both under NU, Muhammadiyah, PUI, and Persatuan Islam,” he said.
Fajar also observed that not many Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM) have been activated. “Even if there are serious PKBMs, most of them do not have equivalent packages A, B, and C. This might be one of the obstacles. I see that many elementary school graduates in Majalengka,” he explained.
Meanwhile, a speaker from the Majalengka Ministry of Religious Affairs, Heru Hoerudin, said that other countries allocate a significant portion of their budget to education, around 30% of their national budget. In contrast, Indonesia only allocates 20%. Despite education being a top priority, Indonesia ranks 69th out of 80 countries in the education sector.
“The average graduate in Majalengka Regency only reaches the 2nd grade of junior high school, which is inversely proportional to the significant education budget,” he revealed.
Another speaker, Badruzaman from Baznas Majalengka, said that teachers should not just be good at theory and advising students. If they do not practice what they preach, students will protest. (Acil)
