Teras Sawah Majalengka, A Place for Education, Creativity, Recreation, and Relaxation

MAJALENGKA – This cafe and restaurant offers more than just food and drinks. It provides a unique atmosphere that combines education, creativity, recreation, and relaxation. Located just 10 minutes from the Majalengka city square, visitors can easily reach Teras Sawah, a cafe situated in Blok Ahad, Kulur Village, Majalengka Regency.

The manager of Teras Sawah, Yulian Firmansyah, said that the cafe offers educational programs introducing livestock and fisheries, with four fish ponds featuring natural azolla feed. “This aligns with the food security issue currently being promoted by the provincial and central governments,” he said when met on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

Yulian added that Teras Sawah is not just a cafe and restaurant but responds to the Governor of West Java’s directive to limit study tours outside the region. Instead, they offer local study programs, such as cooking classes, where junior high school students can learn to be baristas and utilize cooking tools, agriculture, and livestock. “We have a program where kindergarten and elementary school students can take home azolla and a small fish to cultivate,” he revealed.

For beverages, Teras Sawah introduces herbal drinks and spices, creatively blended with fruits to make them appealing to children. “We make modern drinks, so even those who don’t like vegetable juice can enjoy it without realizing the base ingredient is fresh vegetables,” he said.

The owner of Teras Sawah, Elis Avianti, shared a similar sentiment, saying that the concept is simple: creating a rural atmosphere in the city. “Here, you can see rice fields like in Bali or Panyaweuyan Argapura Majalengka. You don’t need to go far, as it’s just 10 minutes from the Majalengka city square,” she said.

Elis added that visitors can also indulge in their love of singing at the karaoke facility. The cafe’s concept combines education, creativity, recreation, and relaxation. “Visitors can watch the sunset, reflect amidst the rice fields, and some even stay from 5 pm until we close at 10 pm. We have to wait for them to leave before we can close,” she revealed.
