UNMA Serves at SLB B YPLB Majalengka

English Language Program PKM Team Warmly Welcomed

MAJALENGKA – The Community Service (PKM) team from the English Language Study Program at Universitas Majalengka (UNMA) conducted a community engagement activity at SLB B YPLB on Jl. Siti Armilah, Majalengka. Titled *“Descriptive Writing Training for Special Needs Students,”* the program initially targeted high school-level students (SMALB), but during implementation, junior high students (SMPLB) also participated enthusiastically.

Titin Kustini, M.Pd., head of the PKM team, explained that the initiative stemmed from the belief that every Indonesian child deserves equal attention and opportunities to access knowledge across all fields.

“This time, we focused on English language skills. Advances in science and technology allow accelerated learning through diverse methods, including for special needs students,” she stated on January 22, 2025.

The principal of SLB B YPLB, Hj. Sri Aminah, S.Pd., warmly welcomed the UNMA team. Known as a visionary leader, Hj. Sri Aminah has demonstrated unwavering dedication to advancing special education. A graduate of Special Education from Indonesia University of Education (UPI), she is committed to maximizing her students’ potential.

The PKM team highlighted UNMA’s growing reputation as a source of pride for Majalengka, citing its academic and non-academic achievements at local, national, and international levels. Faculty members have excelled in the *Tri Dharma* (Three Pillars) of Higher Education—education, research, and community service—earning accolades such as *Best Presenter* and *Keynote Speaker* roles at international conferences, publications in reputable journals, and roles as international journal reviewers.

“UNMA is now ranked in the *main cluster* of universities. As an institution obligated to serve all citizens, we aim to become a disability-friendly campus,” Titin added.

This statement resonated deeply with Hj. Sri Aminah, who has long hoped for UNMA to become a disability-friendly university. “This would allow SLB graduates in Majalengka and the Cirebon-Indramayu-Majalengka-Kuningan (Ciayumajakuning) region to pursue higher education locally instead of traveling far,” she emphasized.

The event concluded joyfully, with students, the PKM team, and teachers participating in interactive activities. A touching arts performance by SLB students highlighted their talents, reminding attendees that these extraordinary children need love and support to become independent, valuable members of society.

“Thank you for *noticing* our children,” said Principal Hj. Sri Aminah to the UNMA team. *“Barakallah* (May God bless you). *Insya Allah* (God willing), this collaboration will grow.” ** (Acil)
